ID Villa – Garden design project
For this garden of a private villa in Colico, a concept was studied contrasting architectural elements and vegetation with geometric shapes in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape. Mixed borders of perennial grasses and herbaceous plants delimit the perimeter of the garden.

Inside the garden an element is repeated like a common thread creating harmony between the spaces: a group of squared evergreen shrubs at variable heights creates relationships between the paved and lawn parts. These static and formal volumes emerge in a soft and ever-moving frame of clumps and perennial herbaceous plants that alternate their flowering in the different seasons. A paved space in front of the entrance door enhances the north-eastern front of the house. In the center of this small stone square, an exemplary olive tree grows inside a raised flowerbed. The olive tree divides the space into two areas, the first to be used as a dining area, and the second, a relaxation area furnished with sofas and tables. A stone staircase descends in front of the olive tree which, running alongside the koi carp pool, leads to the swimming pool, surrounded by a frame of stipa and perennial flowers. This tub resolves the natural difference in height between the entrance of the house and the lawn below. In the foreground, a border of Mediterranean shrubs colors and perfumes the gardens. From the swimming pool you cross a lawn area and walking on stepping stones you arrive under the spa pergola.
the final result
The garden has now been transformed into the place that the owners have always dreamed of: a harmonious environment, where you can relax with family and friends. My intervention has been studied and analyzed in detail, but in any case appears extremely discreet: my idea of garden design in fact involves the use of vegetation that seems spontaneous but harmonious, and which fits perfectly into the surrounding natural context.
