CG Private House – Terrace design project

In this long and narrow terrace the planters were designed and made to measure to be positioned outside the balustrade so as not to restrict the passage. A specimen olive tree chosen by the client, in a handmade terracotta pot, is the focal point of the terrace. Low plants were chosen so as not to hide the view of the Milan skyline. The typical Mediterranean scrub plants chosen for this project adapt well to the conditions of the terrace in full sun. Furthermore, having reduced water needs, these plants are resistant even to the driest seasons. The green, ashy colors with blooms in shades of white/blue/purple stand out in the anthracite planters.

Inside the planters, an evergreen structure of spherical topiary plants was created, including myrtle, phillyrea and polygala, alternating with grasses with similar growth, including fescue, pennisetum and stipa. Among these “spheres” that make up the green structure of the terrace, blooms with an erect posture alternating with the seasons have been placed. Great attention was paid to biodiversity, choosing plants of different varieties that attract bees and butterflies, creating an external environment of great harmony and elegance. The vegetation on this terrace also has the great advantage of changing its appearance in every season, always offering new sensations.
