KF Villa – Park design project

A project that delicately enters into relationship with a wonderful landscape, gently enriching the areas near the villa and the annexes, integrating them with the spontaneous vegetation in the park. Within an existing wooded area at the entrance to the park, some coniferous plants compromised by the bark beetle were cut down and compensated for with native conifers, bringing a continuum with the neighboring woods into the garden. The Tree house stands in this forest (a project by VS architecture), surrounded by an enchanted undergrowth rich in small fruits (blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries, wild strawberries…) under the trees ferns, vinca and hellebores recall spontaneous nature. At the entrance to the property, around the caretaker’s house, in front of the villa and around the swimming pool, flowerbeds of perennial grasses and herbaceous plants have been designed, in harmony with the spontaneous lawns that remain predominant.

A stream that cuts the property in half has been enhanced by slightly widening the riverbed, creating waterfalls and water features, surrounded by herbaceous riparian plants and building a small stone bridge that crosses it. In the lower part of the garden, the existing coppice was expanded using native species to hide the view of the tennis court from the villa. An artificial lake was created among the branches of this forest, channeling the water from the underground springs that made the area marshy. In this lake, marsh plants and small fish create a magical atmosphere, while its waters reflect the mountains. Near the house, a pergola adorned with pots and climbing roses was added, together with a flower garden with vegetables, cut flowers and aromatic and medicinal plants and an orchard. In this garden the anthropic elements are harmonized with the nature that surrounds them, becoming an integral part of it.
